This is a cold dessert but there is something comforting about it, maybe it is the spiced pear, so it's perfect for a winters dessert.

Ingredients

1 medium pear

1/2T butter

1/2t brown or coconut sugar (honey works well too)

1/4t ground ginger

1/4t ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

To serve

Te Atatu Toasted Healthy Blend (or your favourite blend)

Plain, unsweetened yoghurt

Candied pear (optional, method in notes)

Method

  1. Slice the pear into 3mm slivers, disposing of the core.
  2. Heat the butter in a medium saucepan over a medium heat.
  3. Distribute the pieces of pear around the base of the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with the sugar, ginger, cinnamon and salt then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until soft and slightly brown.
  4. In a glass, layer the muesli, yoghurt and pear slices as desired. Serve immediately.

Notes. Candied pears can be made by thinly slicing pears through the centre. Press each side into white sugar and bake at 160C in a preheated oven for 1-2 hours. The pear should become sticky and stiff.
